Claret Bioscience is looking for a motivated bioinformatician/computational biologist to join our small startup team in Santa Cruz, CA. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of next-generation sequencing and genomics, experience working in a fast-paced environment with a small team, and a working understanding of both Linux systems/administration and data analysis techniques.

Key responsibilities:

  • Process next-generation sequencing data
  • Write programs for data analysis and visualization
  • Collaborate with experimental and computational teams at Claret for data generation and analysis
  • Communicate results to experimental team
  • Managing IT equipment in the lab

Desired skills:

  • Familiarity with basic biology and genomics
  • Understanding of next-generation sequencing technology and data
  • Comfortable with Linux systems
  • Familiarity with shell scripting (i.e. bash)
  • Ability to read and write C, C++, Python, and R
  • Motivation and ability to work independently
  • Comfort discussing technical bioinformatics questions with both specialists and non¬≠specialists
  • Knowledge of statistics
  • Desire to drive high impact scientific discovery in an industry research setting
